Google wins a key copyright victory in Germany

German lawmakers in the lower house of parliament approved a copyright bill that would protect the Internet search giant from having to pay fees for displaying links to news articles.

This is considered a significant victory for Google, as the language in the bill is softened significantly from the original draft which would have prevented search companies from showing news bites without publishers’ permissions.
