Barbara Walters Price, Moderator

Barbara Walters Price is the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Mercer Capital, one of the leading business valuation and investment banking firms in the nation serving a national and international clientele.

Since joining Mercer Capital in 1985, Barbara has been instrumental in developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the firm. She oversees all marketing functions, including product development, the firm’s electronic marketing efforts including supervision of web site design and maintenance, speaking engagements, corporate communications, web and live seminars, book design, publishing, promotion, and business development, among many others.

Barbara is also responsible for Mercer Capital’s four newsletters, handling all facets of publication and editing: Value Added™, The Transaction Advisor, and The ESOP Valuation Advisor as well as the firm’s e mail newsletter, Value Matters™.

Barbara is a graduate of the University of Memphis and serves on the board of directors of the Memphis Chapter of Girls, Inc. as well as the Memphis Emmaus Community.

Nancy Fannon, CPA/ABV, Speaker

Nancy has specialized in business valuation and litigation support work over the course of the last 18 years. She is frequently retained to provide expert witness services relating to the value of a business; an opinion on the amount of financial damages relating to lost profits or the loss of a business or segment of a business; and other financial matters. She is often appointed by a court or mediator as a court-appointed expert, and has served as an arbitrator in valuation cases.

Nancy is a frequent speaker both locally and nationally on the topic of business valuation and damages. She is a regular contributing author for several national valuation journals, has participated in writing valuation textbooks, and has been a technical reviewer on several others.

She attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where she earned her Bachelor of Science, Business Administration - Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Master Certified Business Appraiser as designated by the Institute of Business Appraisers, a Certified Public Accountant* Accredited in Business Valuation ("ABV"), and a Business Valuator Accredited in Litigation as designated by the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Nancy is a past member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant's Business Valuation Committee, and currently serves on the Credential Committee for the ABV certification. She served as the Chair of the AICPA 2001 Business Valuation Conference and participated as a committee member for the 2000 and 2003 conferences. She is currently a member of the FASB Purchase Price Method/Business Combination Task Force.

She was Chair of the Accredited in Business Valuation Review Course Committee and an Instructor for several years, as well as participated on the AICPA Advanced Business Valuation Studies Committee. In addition, she currently sits on the Editorial Board of the "CPA Expert." She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Nancy was awarded the Tribute to Women in Industry Award in 1997, an award that recognizes women who have made significant contributions to both the business and local communities. She was also awarded the AICPA's Business Valuation "Volunteer of the Year" Award in 1999.

Harold Martin, MBA, CPA/ABV, ASA, CFE, Speaker

Harold G. Martin, Jr., MBA, CPA, ABV, ASA, CFE, is the Principal-in-Charge of the Business Valuation and Litigation Services Group for Keiter, Stephens, Hurst, Gary & Shreaves, P.C.
He has over 25 years of experience in financial consulting, public accounting, and financial services.

He specializes in valuations of closely held companies, litigation consulting and expert witness services, and special financial investigations. He has appeared as an expert witness in federal and state courts, served as a court-appointed neutral business appraiser, and also served as a federal court-appointed accountant for a receivership.

Harold is an adjunct faculty member of The College of William & Mary Graduate School of Business and teaches in the Master of Accounting program on valuation and forensic accounting. Prior to joining Keiter Stephens, he was affiliated for 13 years with Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. He is a former member of the AICPA Business Valuation Committee and is a two-time recipient of the AICPA Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year Award. He is the editor of the AICPA ABV e-Alert, an editorial adviser for the AICPA CPA Expert, a national instructor for the AICPA’s valuation education program, an AICPA faculty member for the National Judicial College, and a member of the Appraisal Standards Board USPAP BV Task Force to review USPAP Standards.

He is a co-author of Financial Valuation: Applications and Models, and a contributing author to Cost of Capital: Estimation and Applications, 2nd ed. He is a frequent speaker on valuation topics and was a featured speaker at the 2001 and 2003 AICPA National Business Valuation Conferences where he presented on “Cost of Capital.”

Chris Mercer, ASA, CFA, Speaker

Z. Christopher Mercer is founder and chief executive officer of Mercer Capital. Mercer Capital is a business valuation and investment banking firm serving a national and international clientele.
