The International Valuation Glossary—Business Valuation has been completed, and a final version has been released. The prior glossary (from 2001) needed an update because new terms have gained traction and become more popular in the market and in practice.

Global BV News: CBV Institute releases its 2021 journal
The Chartered Business Valuators Institute (CBV Institute), Canada’s valuation professional organization (VPO) and standard-setter, puts out an excellent journal each year, and the 2021 edition is now available.
Global BV News: IVSC gets two new members
The newest members of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) are: the Union of Accountants, Auditors and Financial Workers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UAAFWFBH), which is a nongovernmental, nonprofit professional association, membership in which is mandatory for all certified professional accountants in that area; and Sparta & Co., with offices in Istanbul and London, which is a strategy and corporate finance company that provides international M&A advisory services.

Landmark ESOP Ruling: Inside the Walsh v. Bowers Case with the DOL
Join experts Ken Pia and Ian Rusk for a deep dive into the recent ESOP case decision involving the Department of Labor, a Hawaii-based ESOP company (Bowers & Kubota), the ESOP’s trustee, and selling shareholders. Many key valuation issues and standards were addressed through expert testimony and later in the district court’s decision. Global BV News: Most large firms suffer major impact from illicit activity
Kroll’s Global Fraud and Risk Report reveals that 57% of respondents at companies with a turnover of more than $15 billion reported a very significant impact of illicit activity, such as fraud, corruption, and money laundering, on their organization, with a further quarter (25%) describing the impact as somewhat significant.
