New patent database provides complex search tools

Patent Baristas called our attention to ArchPatent, a new, private database for searching U.S. patent information. ArchPatent includes searchable USPTO patent grants back to 1920 and patent applications back to 2001. Analysts can perform a Quick Search or an Advanced Search of multiple patent fields simultaneously: search by keyword or by patent number, title, inventor, assignee, examiner, and agent. Available search tools  complex search strings using Boolean logic, proximity and wildcard operators, and keyword stemming. Key point: users can search within results (modify searches on the fly) without having to go back and start over.
