On-site interviews should include face-to-face meetings with key players with respect to valuing IP


Jack Ellis argues in the IAM Magazine Blog that IP value has a direct correlation to people:  inventors, engineers, lawyers, marketers, senior executives and many others turn IP into an asset that is truly worth something.

Though the core audience for the blog is not valuators, the message is apt. Without the talent, energy and vision the key players bring to the IP, it may have minimal value.  Each valuation analyst needs to develop a strategy to evaluate the people responsible for the success of a given technology, much as M&A analysts incorporate assessments of management into their appraisals.
