Beswick appointed as SEC Chief Accountant this morning...

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced this morning that it has named Paul A. Beswick to the position of Chief Accountant. Beswick had been the Acting Chief Accountant since former Chief Accountant Jim Kroeker left the position, and prior to that had been serving as one of the Office of Chief Accountants three Deputy Chief Accountants.

Beswick has participated in many industry summits, but was most noteworthy last spring at The Appraisal Foundation's BV Roundtable, led by Tony Aaron and Jay Fishman.   His quotes about "believing that the BV profession was already standardized" generated more calls for harmonization within our profession.

Beswick has gained a fair amount of respect for his clear and thoughtful statements on many issues however; BVR is optimistic regarding the BV professions' dealings with the Chief Accountant's Office going forward .
