Live from Phoenix: Trugman updates BV members of the ASA

Day 2 in Phoenix kicked off with a Business Valuation Committee update from chair Linda Trugman.   First, she acknowledged the BVC members--easily identifiable by their black nametag flags.

Next year's 2013 ASA Advanced Business Valuation Conference is in San Antonio October 12-14.  Plan ahead!

So what's new with the American Society of Appraisers' BVC?

  • The Committee has it's first on-line course November 1-2--featuring Roger Grabowski on cost of capital.   "We're trying to get 201-204 on-line within a year, and we're also looking at webcasting sessions from the annual meetings," Linda reports.
  • The BVC Education Committee is looking for ASAs or AMs to develop course materials and modules.   Linda asks than any one with ideas for new educational materials contact Education Committee chair Gary Trugman.
  • Linda also called special attention to the role of Terry Allen who was on BVC for more than a decade, including a stint as chair--and also worked on the Board of Governors and extensively in education.   Terry died last fall, and Linda asked every one to take a moment to recall her.
  • The BVC is working with ASA headquarters and a marketing consulting firm.  Some of the benefits of these efforts will start to be available later this year--particularly around a BVC "Member Toolkit."   The hope is that there will be marketing copy available to all members as the "preeminent business valuation professionals."
