Global BV News: European goodwill impairment jumped 26% in 2015

Goodwill impairments increased in 2015 for companies in the STOXX Europe 600 Index, according to the 2016 European Goodwill Impairment Study from Duff & Phelps. Goodwill impairments increased by 26%, from €29.4 billion in 2014 to €37.1 billion in 2015. From an industry viewpoint, financials had the highest aggregate goodwill impairment, at €14.3 billion. From a country perspective, Germany had the highest aggregate amount of goodwill impairments, at €11.6 billion. The STOXX Europe 600 Index is comprised of large, mid- and small-capitalization companies across 18 countries of the European region.
