BVWireIssue #97-1
October 6, 2010

Last week’s BVWire described two outstanding panels at the Advanced Summit on Business Valuation: Resolving Tax & Legal Issues, presented by BVR and Georgetown School of Law on November 10.  In addition to those presentations featuring senior IRS officials and federal tax court judges, the Summit will focus on new and emerging issues in the areas of business valuation and taxation. Among them:

  • An update of new and emerging case law, in which conference co-chairs
Mel Abraham and John Porter (Baker Botts LLP) will discuss what 2010 Tax Court decisions mean for the practice of business valuation in trust &
    estate and tax engagements, and
  • A presentation on Family Limited Partnerships with Porter and Will
    Frazier
(Howard Frazier Barker Elliot Inc.).  In this session special focus
will be given to how cases like Holman, Murphy, and Keller as well as standards set by associations and governing bodies have come to shape this practice area.
